openSUSE Leap 42.2 New stable release

The openSUSE Project has announced the general availability of the openSUSE Leap 42.2 operating system.

It is essentially a Service Pack, the second major update for openSUSE Leap 42, an open-source and free distribution. openSUSE Leap 42.2 has been in development for the past six months. The update brings several new features to openSUSE, some of which users of the rolling Tumbleweed release already have.

In this release, the openSUSE Project has chosen to use the long-term support Linux 4.4 kernel, providing users with a more secure, more reliable, and more stable platform that they can easily deploy in a wide range of production environments, including but not limited to cloud infrastructures, virtual machines, and organizations.openSUSE Leap 42.2
