Microsoft recently announced a preview of the guide for the new Security Updates portal, and now the company is making a change that will put the focus on updating the information provided to users.
In particular, long-time Microsoft users may know that Microsoft posts information about Security Updates on TechNet on a website called Microsoft Security Bulletin, but since the company has revamped the way they are sent to users with a new channel that will showcase information on this topic.
More recently, Microsoft unveiled a preview of the Security Updates Guide, a new portal that includes almost everything you need to know about security vulnerabilities using a single and comprehensive online database.
Starting in January 2017, this new portal will be the only source of information about security updates, with Microsoft explaining that the Security Bulletin website will be used once again next month for the established Patch Tuesday. Microsoft will explain the main advantages of its new service, noting that users can sort and filter security vulnerabilities based on update CVE content, KB number or product, but also filter out products that do not interest them.
The first time the new Security Updates Guide page will be used to provide users with information about Security Patches is on January 10th, when Microsoft will begin the first cycle of Patch Tuesdays in 2017. Users can already try out the new website, but we should tell you that the Technet page will be operational until January, so you can access whichever one you like the most for the next month and a half.
