Microsoft is touting the Surface Book as a direct competitor to Apple's MacBook Pro. So now that both companies have new models available, the decision is up to the end user: Windows or macOS.
Microsoft, trying to make this decision easier, created a page on its official online shop that displays the Surface Book side by side with a MacBook Pro.
The side-by-side comparison shows that the Windows 10 laptop comes with a detachable touchscreen and features a discrete NVIDIA graphics processor, while the Apple model does not have either at all.
Additionally, the Surface can be used with a pen, but due to the lack of a touchscreen, the MacBook Pro is again left behind.
Microsoft also points out that the Surface Book has a higher resolution (267 PPI versus the MacBook's 227 PPI), and a better front-facing camera. The Surface also has a rear-facing camera.
“It’s easy to switch from Mac to Surface. The new Surface will work seamlessly with iTunes, iCloud, and iPhone. Many of the gestures, shortcuts, and features are similar to what you already know,” Microsoft says, trying to attract new customers.
It remains to be seen how many Apple customers will agree to switch laptops. Comparisons clearly show that Microsoft's devices are much more powerful and offer better quality than the new generation MacBooks.
Of course, we should mention that there are many reliable computers out there, with much more affordable prices, that have nothing to do with the latest models of the two companies.
