Apple to unveil new MacBooks on October 27

Recode is now reporting that Apple is planning to release new MacBooks as part of an event on October 27th, likely at Apple's campus. There are no new details about what we'll see in the new Macs, but the following post presents the most persistent rumors from the most reliable sources.

With the exception of the 12-inch MacBook, all of Apple's Macs are currently at least a year old, and many of them are quite a bit older. Rumors of new models have been circulating all year, but the latest and most reliable source says it will be getting some updates later this month.

The latest report comes from Japanese website Mac Otakara, which is usually a reliable source of information on Apple's Asian supply chain. The rumors about the Macb00k Pro are similar to what we've been hearing all year. Both the 13-inch and 15-inch Macbook Pros are expected to be thinner and follow the Macbook Pro's thin and light design by adding USB Type-C ports, but Apple is trying to keep its customers happy by giving them more ports and adding Thunderbolt 3 support.

Unique features like a customizable OLED power button and TouchID support are said to be on the tab. Intel Skylake processors seem to be the manufacturers' biggest bet.

The most interesting bit of information is about the Macb00k Air. The 13-inch model is expected to have USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports, but these ports will replace all the ports, the USB Type –A port, Thunderbolt 2, and Magsafe 2. We still don't know if Apple will revisit the design of the 13-inch Air, which was revised in October 2010.

Stay tuned and if Apple does indeed refresh its Macbook lineup later this month, we'll let you know all the details as soon as we receive them!
