As it appears Microsoft is trying to stop support for the classic Control Panel of Windows 10, and the Redstone 2 update is said to be the version that will focus more on the Settings app, which is supposed to provide almost the same functionality.
The latest version of Windows 10 Redstone 2 shows Microsoft's plan to remove the shortcut that leads to the Control Panel via Win+X or with a right‑click from the Start menu. Thus it is a bit more difficult to have immediate access.
Many options that were in the Control Panel settings have already migrated to the Settings app, the Control Panel still appears to be accessible without registry tweaks or other solutions.
From build 14.942, the easiest way to open the Control Panel is to open File Explorer (a folder) and type “Control Panel” in the address bar. Alternatively, you can also enable the old settings with some tweaks in the registry that restore the shortcut to Win+X.
Despite the fact that the change may not be liked by many users, merging the Settings app and the Control Panel will make things much easier for system management.
We must, after all, admit that the first Settings app released by Microsoft was very crude.
Redstone 2 will be officially released in the spring of 2017.
