Facebook Messenger is undoubtedly the largest personal messaging application: Today it announced the milestone of one billion active users each month. This means that 200 million users have been added since January.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has had 1 billion active users each month since February. This means that over 1 in 7 inhabitants on the planet use some Facebook messaging app.
To celebrate the occasion, Facebook added an Easter egg to the Facebook Messenger app: Send a balloon emoji to someone to see what happens.
