Raspberry Pi has just introduced the Pi Zero, a programmable computer that costs only $5! The new mini computer is available starting today.
The Pi Zero is currently the smallest computer the company has built, and packs enough power and components that allow it to match other devices in the Pi family. In fact, it is half the size of the Model A+ that was released last year, but offers double the performance.
So for $5, you can get a Broadcom BCM2835 processor that is 40 percent faster than the Raspberry Pi 1 and 512 MB RAM.
There is also a microSD memory card slot, a mini-HDMI slot that provides video output with Full HD resolution at 60 frames per second. The new device comes with a Micro-USB port for data and charging.
The founder of Raspberry Pi, Mr. Eben Upton, said that they developed a low-cost computer to give people the ability to learn programming and experiment with electronics.
If you want to acquire a device, you can select it from the official Raspberry Pi website.
