Microsoft will once again have to face the law due to data collection settings in Windows 10. Russian lawyers have filed a lawsuit against the company because the new operating system spies on their customers.
A Moscow Times reveals that lawyers from Bubnov and Partners based in the Russian capital have filed a complaint with the Prosecutor General's Office claiming that the operating system (Windows 10) is being used to collect information, thus violating state laws.
Information such as passwords, location, typed messages, and browser history are being collected, lawyers claim, and this violates Russian laws.
Additionally, the same source reports that Duma deputy Vadim Solovyov also filed a complaint with the Prosecutor General's Office about the exact same behavior a week ago, claiming that Microsoft is violating Russian law by collecting data with the new operating system that could be used to spy on users. According to the complaint, the company should be fined and the operating system should be immediately banned from the country.
Microsoft has not yet commented on these allegations, but the company has already explained in the past that all of these data collection features can be disabled if users want.
However, as we mentioned in a previous post, even if you disable these features, Microsoft continues to collect information in the background.
