Microsoft just announced that Office universal apps will be ready this month and will debut alongside Windows 10 on July 29, thus providing users with a quick way to manage their documents along with the installation of its new operating system.
Office universal apps were first introduced by Microsoft in January at a special Windows 10 event, and immediately after the presentation, the company released preview versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to develop the apps with help from users who were testing them.
On July 29, these apps will be stripped of the “preview” label and will appear in their final form.
Interestingly, according to Microsoft, the Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote applications will be available for free from the Windows Store.
At the same time, Microsoft is developing the desktop version of the new Office 2016 (which will be released for a fee), but we don't have any more information about this specific version at this time.
It should be mentioned that the free Office universal apps will be fine for those who want basic document editing features on Windows 10.
So starting July 29th, you can search for them in the Windows Store.
