Facebook is preparing surprises for its friends. By the end of May, you will be able to see full articles from major news outlets directly on your “wall.” The new feature is called Instant Articles, or in Greek Αμασέμας άραχης, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Facebook has said on occasion that it wants its users to be able to read news articles without having to leave the social network.
Part of the project was revealed by the Times in March, but the Wall Street Journal has published some new details about how Facebook is trying to solicit publications from news organizations with its new Instant Articles.
The social network is considering allowing websites identified as sources of the article to keep all advertising revenue from articles published on Facebook.
If Facebook manages to place additional ads around the article, it will only keep 30 percent of the revenue for itself.
The numbers show that Facebook's Instant Articles feature isn't designed to make money directly, but rather is a way to keep users on the social network longer, which can indirectly increase Facebook's profits.
Facebook, according to information from TheVerge, believes that the new Instant Articles feature will lead to an increase in its readership, since the articles will be quickly displayed directly with a click on its main website, and will not take around eight seconds to load in a web browser.
