Within the framework of the course “Computational Intelligence” of the Department of Business Administration of TEI Patras, the trainees conduct a research that aims to study cognitive processes and aspects of personality and behavior of male and female students of Greek universities and technological educational institutions of the country.

Application of Machine Learning Methods in the Evaluation of Student Self-Concentration
In the present study, Machine Learning techniques are applied with the aim of evaluating student concentration. The data were collected through the completion of electronic questionnaires, which were created based on the absorption scale and using the Google Forms service.
The electronic questionnaires were posted on the website https://www.cicos.gr created for this purpose. The sample consists of students aged 18 to 28 years. The absorption scale was constructed in order to determine self-concentration which is considered a key parameter for the manifestation and management of depression.
The absorption scale, which evaluates two subtypes of absorption (internal and external), examines the degree and duration of self-concentration (internal absorption) as well as the management of external concentration on a specific work object.
Subsequently, the collected data were selected for analysis, with relevant transformations, so that they have an appropriate format in order to meet the requirements for applying the corresponding machine learning algorithms. For the data analysis, the open-source software package Weka was used, which contains a variety of Machine Learning and Data Mining methods.
Furthermore, the parameters of the corresponding algorithms were defined, depending on the application case, in order to generate inference extraction rules. Finally, the evaluation of the significance of the extracted rules/conclusions was performed
