According to the latest information, the preview version of Windows 9 is expected to be available for download on September 30th at a special Microsoft event.
Microsoft 's goal with the new operating system is to have a faster upgrade cycle, with the final version of Windows 9 expected in April 2015 .
Also, several changes are expected so that Microsoft can win over Windows 7 users who did not upgrade to Windows 8/8.1 .
These changes include a new Start Menu, which will likely support live tiles and the ability to run modern Windows Store on the desktop, as well as the removal of the Charms bar.
This means that modern Windows applications will have a title bar that includes a menu, with elements from the Charms bar, while developers will need to add features to their applications to enable sharing.
This specific change is most likely due to the fact that Microsoft wants the new modern Windows 8 to run in a windowed environment like traditional applications in order to significantly improve the experience of using a keyboard and mouse.
It is also possible that the Windows Phone digital assistant , Cortana , will make an appearance , while it is not excluded that we will see " virtual desktops " in Windows 9
With virtual desktops (without installing third-party applications), Windows 9 will be able to create separate active desktops and switch between them using a button on the taskbar.
Finally, with Windows 9, Microsoft is expected to put an end to the different versions for different devices, wanting to unify the versions of Windows RT and Windows Phone .
