Lockheed Martin has unveiled the latest development in the field of drones. Unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs for short, are essentially aircraft used for various missions (peaceful and combat). They operate through a combination of remote control and autopilot technologies.
often used for reconnaissance, but can also carry payloads or supplies when the situation requires it.
Unfortunately, they have a specific problem: due to their small size, their fuel tanks are low in capacity, so their flights do not last long.
The Lockheed Fury 1500, however, can stay in the air for over half a day, specifically over 15 hours.
The Fury 1500 was built to gather intelligence, and more generally to spy on targets.
It is designed to operate in less favorable areas, which means it does not need an airstrip to take off or land.
Its takeoff is carried out by a launcher, as you will see in the video.
The drone uses JP8 fuel. The engine is 2KW, to drive a three-blade propeller located at the rear. It can fly at an altitude of 5.48 kilometers and travel distances of up to 2,700 kilometers.
It uses infrared and EO sensors for in-flight scanning, and can fly for 15-16 hours without needing to refuel.
All the while, the management team can monitor it in real time from screens that display the flight and direct it remotely with Sharkfin's STANAG 4586 software. Finally, the drone can land in the water or on a net.
