Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system has gained remote control capability, allowing you to access and manage a PC via a smartphone.

More specifically, Microsoft made available for free via the Windows Phone Store the Remote Desktop Preview app, through which the user can connect via his mobile to a PC running Windows and have access to files and data.
It is worth noting that the corresponding apps from other manufacturers for Windows 8 and Windows RT operating systems are among the most popular in the Windows Store. The new app is available for free and has a size of 1 MB.
The Windows Phone 8.1 operating system adds a series of more professional features to Microsoft's smartphones that could be combined with remote management capability. For example, support for secure e‑mail S/MIME, certified management, the ability «locking» files on OneDrive, support for VPN, IPsec and SSL VPN.
Microsoft had created Remote Desktop applications for Android and iPhone devices as early as last autumn. Additionally, the related applications for the Android, iOS, and Mac OS X operating systems were upgraded just last March.
The Remote Desktop Preview application provides a secure connection to data and applications via Network Level Authentication (NLA) technology, allows simplified management of all remote connections and additionally offers high-quality audio and video streaming. Finally, it supports Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and RemoteFX for gesture-based management in a Windows environment.
