A girl playing with her smartphone thought it would be a good idea to play a prank on American Airlines. So, pretending to be a terrorist (along the path paved by Xiros), she sent a tweet saying that they were going to do something very bad on an American Airlines plane. The girl was arrested, of course, and she probably learned that these are not games.
@QueenDemetriax_ posted the tweet thinking it was a really good joke. She mentioned American Airlines in the tweet to make sure they would read it. She stated that her name is Ibrahim, she is from Afghanistan and she belongs to Al-Qaeda. She threatened the company that by June 1st they would do something very bad. The company immediately responded by stating that it had forwarded her IP and personal information to the FBI.
The teenager tried to explain that it was a joke. After a while, and probably after being very scared, she said that the tweet had been written by a friend of hers and not her.
The girl was taken to the police yesterday. The Rotterdam police located her immediately after her conversation. They arrested her and of course asked her why she did it.
This morning the girl was released, but further investigations are pending to clarify the reasons why she did it. The police said they will have to decide whether to prosecute.
Given her age (14 years old), her name has not been revealed. What is certain is that after all this, the next time she thinks about something similar she will not do it so impulsively.
