A limited number of iPhone 5s devices are suffering from a manufacturing defect that causes the battery to charge very slowly or even not at all. Apple has admitted the manufacturing error and promised to replace the affected devices with new ones.
An Apple spokesperson confirmed to the New York Times that some iPhone 5s devices suffer from a design flaw that affects the battery.
Apple spokesperson Teresa Brewer said: "We recently discovered a manufacturing defect in the production line affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5S. The defect causes the battery to charge very slowly and sometimes causes reduced battery life."
Brewer added: “We will be giving away new phones to our customers who have such a device in their hands.”
