Wozniak: Microsoft is relying on the markets it has created in the past and that is very dangerous

steve_wozniakApple co-founder Steve Wozniak believes that Microsoft, under the leadership of current CEO Steve Ballmer, has been on a downward spiral. He made the observation in an interview with the BBC. He didn't tell us anything new, but it's an observation that not only cannot go unnoticed, but also raises questions.

During the interview, Wozniak said that in his opinion, Microsoft “is relying on the markets it has built for many years, and that is very dangerous.” He added that he doesn’t know what people are saying about Ballmer, but that he doesn’t think he was that important when compared to Bill Gates. For the record, Gates stepped down from that position in 2000, to be replaced by Ballmer, but he still holds the title of chairman to this day.

One of the questions that arises when reading these statements is how Microsoft allowed Steve Ballmer to hold such a high position for so long when the numbers were on a downward trend. Perhaps Windows 8 and Surface finally indicated to the company's board that immediate action needed to be taken.

In the same interview, Wozniak also mentioned Apple, which he said "has found its type" as it is such a large company and is releasing new and innovative products, under the leadership of the late Steve Jobs. He also feels that current CEO, Mr. Tim Cook, is the right person for the company.
