After all, the more afraid its victims are, the easier they will fall for the blackmail. It is known who “Pay to unlock your computer”. So, to present its victims with a more credible appearance, it not only uses the names of the FBI ,Greek Police or international anti-piracy groups, but also security companies.
About a year ago, McAfee warned its customers that one of its ransomware attacks was using the McAfee SECURE logo. Now, Symantec is warning that the Ransomlock Trojan is using the Norton logo .
It is worth noting that the Symantec logo displayed on the lock screen of an infected computer was detected in a malicious campaign targeting German users. The Irish version of the Trojan, for example, does not use the logo.
In case your computer is infected by this Trojan , do not pay the extortionists. Of course, there are also legitimate extortionists, you know who they are. If you are infected, go find a friend who knows, if you do not know what to do to remove it. If you know, use a ransomware removal application to clean your device.
