Terry Myerson, who is currently the head of Windows and Devices at Microsoft, will take on the leadership role of the Windows Server team, following other new management changes announced by CEO Satya Nadella.

Until now, Windows Server was led by Scott Guthrie, who was part of the Cloud and Enterprises group, so the change makes sense, since Windows and Windows Server share the same core. All versions of Windows offered by Microsoft are now part of the same unit, so the company expects to simplify the process of collaboration between the teams working on Windows and Windows Server.
A company spokesperson said:
“As we advance our goal of building the operating systems that deliver the best experiences from the smallest IoT devices to the largest scale server deployments in public and private clouds, the Windows Server team will transition from the Cloud +Enterprise team to the Windows and Devices team. These teams are already working closely together.”
Scott Guthrie will remain the leader of the Cloud and Enterprise unit, but without the Windows Server team, while Terry Myerson will lead the Windows and Devices team.
As part of this transition, the Windows Server Engineering and Remote Desktop Services teams will also be moved to the Windows and Devices group, along with their respective leaders, Mike Neil and Brad Anderson.
Of course, there is no official word yet on when these changes will take place within the company.
