[su_heading size=”18″ margin=”40″]Samsung today introduced its first Universal Flash Storage cards – or UFS for short – which promise five times the data transfer speed and performance that far surpasses microSD. These revolutionary storage devices will come in capacities of 256, 128, 64 and 32GB.[/su_heading]

Removable storage cards, such as microSD, are one of the key features that consumers consider when buying a smartphone. While there are some drawbacks in terms of speed, there is no doubt that users love devices with expandable storage.
Samsung , the Korean technology giant, today unveiled the successor to microSD cards. UFS memory cards support incredibly fast data transfer speeds and will soon be available in a wide range of storage capacities .
UFS can prove crucial for recording high-resolution video, but also in cases where speed plays an important role, such as recording 360-degree video, which requires the use of a card that supports faster data transfer.
“Our new 256GB UFS card will provide an ideal user experience for digitally-minded consumers, and will lead to the establishment of the most competitive solution in the technology industry,” said a Samsung spokesperson.
The latest series of UFS memory cards feature a read speed of 530MB/s. So, compared to the leading microSD cards, UFS cards are about five times faster, meaning they can read a 5GB full-HD movie in 10 seconds. They also have a write speed of up to 170MB/s, which is almost double that of today’s professional microSD cards.
UFS memory cards have already been used as built-in memory in Samsung's previous flagships, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Apart from these devices, there are no other products on the market that support UFS at this time.
