From now on, Aegean Airlines ensures the convenience and security of online purchases through one of the world’s leading online payment platforms – PayPal. Aegean customers can now discover first-hand how PayPal can make purchasing tickets even more convenient and seamless, as the checkout process is much faster, smoother and most importantly, even simpler.

“In the near future, payments will become invisible. They will no longer be seen as a tedious process – says Matt Komorowski, Managing Director of PayPal for Central and Eastern Europe. Therefore, we are very excited to help Aegean Airlines upgrade the customer experience, making the payment process even faster and easier. Whether they are buying a domestic flight or a trip somewhere in the world – thanks to PayPal the customer can now focus solely on the quality of his/her travel experience.”.

PayPal wants to be at the forefront of shaping the new payment experience for Aegean customers. All they need to open a PayPal account is an email address and a password, so signing up takes less than a minute. Keeping in mind the ever-growing demand for mobile shopping (in 2015, 28% of the 4.9 billion payments made through the PayPal platform were made via mobile devices), PayPal also offers air travelers the One Touch payment service.

“At PayPal, we know that in m-commerce, the faster the checkout process, the higher the sales volume,” says Matt Komorowski. Customers using One Touch only need to log in to their PayPal account once to pay for goods via mobile apps. Once logged in, any further attempts to purchase items in the app using PayPal can be validated with a single click.

Aegean Airlines has recorded strong passenger traffic growth in 2015, up 15% compared to 2014. The Star Alliance member offers its customers lower prices and significantly improved connectivity. Aegean doubled its international network in two years and in 2016 added 14 new destinations from its central hub at Athens International Airport, including new markets such as Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Ireland, etc.

Now, Aegean Airlines has the ability to offer even more to customers who pay with PayPal, including the Buyer Protection Program, which also covers intangible goods, such as music and games, as well as airline tickets.
