A new virus has appeared on many users' computers, which installs itself automatically and can lock their files and then asks them for money to unlock them.
This new virus is called CryptoLocker and belongs to the ransomware category and essentially uses a sophisticated encryption system that locks the user's personal files and then asks for an average of 300 euros to send the unlock code.
So far, it has infected over 200,000 computers worldwide in December alone, and experts believe it is one of the most sophisticated types of viruses to have been released in recent years.
