Amazon employee bought the domain “Google.com” for $12.
Hard to believe, but yes, this happened too.

A former Google employee, Sanmay Ved and current Amazon employee, discovered, to his great surprise, that the most famous domain on the internet, "Google.com," was available for purchase.

And as if that wasn't enough, it only cost $12.
So, waiting for an error message, he added the domain to his shopping cart and proceeded to checkout. The entire purchase process went smoothly.

Within seconds, his inbox and Google Webmaster Tools were filled with messages confirming that he was an administrator of Google.com.

However, he soon received a message from Google Domains canceling the purchase and offering a refund, as Google manages the domain and could control all purchases related to it.
It is still unclear what exactly happened – whether this was due to a bug in Google Domains or that the company “forgot” to renew its ownership.

Whatever the reason, the experience of owning the giant search engine Google.com sounds shocking.
Ved has posted the entire process along with screenshots on his LinkedIn account .
