Google today released a new update for its Google Photos service that allows users to quickly transfer images, making it even easier to share photos and videos with friends and family after a vacation or similar event.

The new features available in Google Photos are designed to provide a quick and simple way to collect all the photos and videos from those attending an event, bringing the memories together in one place for everyone to see.

The new shared albums in Google Photos are now available for both iOS and Android devices, and are available via the official website, so you can check them out and try them out. Google explains a little more about what you can expect from the new features.

“With the launch of Google Photos in May, we made it easier to share your photos and albums by sending links via SMS, email, or messaging apps. With today’s launch, you can now make the albums you send collaborative.

People who receive the shared album can join in to add their own photos and videos, and also get notifications when new images are added. You can even save photos and videos from a shared album to your Google Photos library, so you can have them even if you weren't holding the camera.

Best of all, there’s no setup—you choose the photos, create an album, and then send the link to whoever you want. And it doesn’t matter what device your friends and family are using—tablet or laptop, Android or iPhone.”
