"Happy Birthday" is dead, and it's Facebook's fault

Facebook SMS notification allows users to "wish" their friends a happy birthday by simply typing the character "1"!facebook

Already birthday wishes through the popular network were somewhat undervalued as the least effort someone could make to wish. Now, birthday wishes lose all meaning because of a service provided by the most famous social network to its users. Wonder why?

This new feature is part of the social network's SMS notifications feature, which allows users to interact with the site via text messages. By default, the social network will notify you if you receive a message, friend request, comment, etc. The latter category has long included birthdays, which has caused endless complaints, but in the past year the network has also added an insta-reply feature.

The Guardian comments on the subject: "What do we recommend? If someone posts "Happy Birthday!" on your timeline in exactly this format and with the punctuation, you'd better unfriend them. They never cared about you anyway."
