After immediate and coordinated actions, in collaboration with the local police department, the suicide of a 57-year-old was prevented and his physical integrity was ensured

The Cybercrime Unit (CCU) of the Hellenic Police, after immediate and coordinated actions, and in close cooperation with the local competent police service, prevented another case of suicide, which occurred via the Internet by a 57-year-old Greek national.
In particular, the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate was informed, early in the morning hours today (20-06-2015), through the innovative online procedure "CYBER ALERT" and specifically via an e-mail message, that an Internet user expressed his intention to commit suicide, through a relevant post he made on his profile on a social networking website.
The thorough police and digital investigation conducted by police officers of the Service resulted in the immediate identification of the person in question, as well as the area where he was located, and the competent Police Department was immediately informed.
As part of the thorough investigations of the local Police Department, the 57-year-old Greek national, who expressed the intention to commit suicide, was located and his physical integrity was ensured.
The pre-investigation material that was collected will be submitted to the competent Prosecution Authority.
