Mozilla doubles bug bounties in Firefox

Mozilla is increasing the rewards for vulnerability researchers who find bugs in Firefox , doubling the rewards for information on the most dangerous vulnerabilities. As many companies increase the rewards in their bounty programs, Mozilla has decided to become more competitive in this area.

Raymond Forbes reports that the reward amount was increased to $3,000 five years ago and now is the right time to increase it even more. Vulnerabilities considered of the highest importance will receive rewards of up to $7,500 under the new program!

Mozilla used to pay a very specific amount for identifying any vulnerability, now it is upgrading its program, and the amount will vary depending on the risk of the vulnerability and how easily an exploit can be created to exploit it .

Researchers who identify medium -risk holes will be rewarded with an amount ranging from $500 to $2,000, depending on the risk, which will be determined by the bounty program.

The company is also promoting a program called the Security Bug Bounty Hall of Fame, which is already active but has never been officially announced. This page will give credits to those who find valid bugs, thus providing aspiring researchers with the incentive of fame.

According to Forbes, Mozilla has so far awarded $1.6 million in bug bounties.
