Inbox full of unread emails? What does it have to do with your intelligence?
Email full of unread messages? The worse it is, the better. Because this is not necessarily a sign of problematic behavior.
Quite the opposite. Those who ignore the messages they receive in their email, or those who keep hundreds in their account, without even bothering to read or delete them, may be smarter than the rest.
According to social psychologist Ron Friedman, an overflowing inbox can be a sign of an emotionally detached person, but it can also mean that “you recognize that monitoring and organizing emails is not helping you make progress.” And that’s a sign of intelligence, according to Friedman.
In fact, since he notes that the point is for each person to engage in whatever makes them feel most productive, he emphasizes that perhaps those who ignore their emails understand better what this means, compared to those who are obsessed with keeping their inbox clean.
