Microsoft: Office Universal apps preview announced

Microsoft recently released the Technical Preview of Windows 10 for Phones, announcing support for almost all Lumia devices.

However, the company also announced that the new version of Windows 10 for Phones has some issues that it will address in future builds.

One of these issues is that the new operating system does not support any Office applications, so if you are thinking of installing Windows 10 for Phones and you absolutely need Office, you better not do it.

Today, the company announced that the Office Universal apps preview for Windows 10 for Phones will be available for download by the end of the month.

These apps are designed to work on all Windows 10 mobile devices, tablets and smartphones. All app controls and buttons have been moved to the bottom of the screen, so Windows Phone users can manage the software with one hand.

The company seems to be following a very aggressive policy since Satya Nadella took over as CEO. Of course, no one can know what the results of the new policy will be, but what is certain is that the new Microsoft has nothing to do with Steve Ballmer's Microsoft.

If you follow tech news, you've probably noticed that almost every day there are deliberate "leaks" of news from department heads. Teasing news seems to not only keep a company's customers "warm," but also attract a new audience who turn their heads out of curiosity and take a sneak peek at the new projects.

Satya Nadella's aggressive policy seems to be focused (as he has repeatedly stated) on customer needs, with the Windows Insider project for the development of Windows 10 being a clear example.

Today's Microsoft, in addition to the well-trodden paths, seems to be taking risks under Nadella's instructions, exploring new avenues. Thus we have the invasion of Android systems, but also rumors that the company wants to "open" Windows.

Microsoft is changing, and we can suspect the transformation, from what we read. We believe that changes are always necessary, for the survival of companies and not only. The company from Redmond has probably suspected it especially after the release of Windows 8 and the first and second generation Surface tablets. The post-Ballmer era looks very promising and with many exciting promises.
