OAED: Free IT courses from Microsoft – Covers all unemployed people
The "Informatics Academy" program, developed in collaboration with Microsoft, was presented today, during a press conference, by the Governor of OAED, Mr. Theodoros Ampatzoglou, and the CEO of Microsoft Hellas, Ms. Peggy Antonakou.
This is an initiative for free training of the unemployed in digital skills, which was jointly implemented by OAED and Microsoft and thanks to which, those of the registered unemployed who wish to do so will have the opportunity to acquire another qualification in their effort to (re)integrate into the labor market.
As stated in the relevant announcement, all unemployed people registered with OAED, regardless of specialization, age or any other parameter, will have free access to Microsoft's international platform, IT Academy, which is used by millions of users worldwide to develop their digital skills. Upon completion of the courses, each registrant will have acquired skills that will significantly enhance their work profile. The "Informatics Academy" program has been developed with a three-year horizon and provides the opportunity to follow a wide range of courses for all levels, with the prospect of being enriched in order to provide even more benefits.
Registered unemployed people will have the opportunity to utilize, without any financial burden, the following services:
1. Provision of e-learning in more than 1,000 IT topics, such as operating systems, office applications, computer networks, programming, ERP and CRM systems, databases, etc. The learner, through a unique code, will have access to the courses from any computer connected to the internet, while there will also be the possibility of downloading the courses.
2. Provision of free online infrastructure through Office 365 to support education:
a. Real-time training via the platform (Lync): E-learning capability with the help of an "advanced Skype", which will allow teachers to organize online training via video, applications, while at the same time learners will be able to ask them comments and questions in real time.
b. Ability to easily create course portals: through the Sharepoint Online platform, users will be able to easily create online educational material pages which will then be shared with learners within the context of the courses.
c. Email capability: Email is available, with 50 GB of storage space, calendar and tasks.
Web office capability: The ability to use the web versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Onenote as well as Project Server is provided.
The program will be launched on a pilot basis in the immediate future. The goal is to gradually expand it to all interested registered unemployed persons of the OAED. There will be relevant announcements regarding the next steps soon, so that the beneficiaries of the Organization can be informed.
