Many Facebook users have chosen to lock their friends list so that only they can see their friends and no other users, not even their own friends. It is known that a locked friends list only displays the mutual friends between the user it belongs to and the user who is viewing it, with only one exception to the rule.
Mashable found an easy way to track down 217 of Mark Zuckerberg's friends , even though he has locked his friends list, using a link and a friend's username. The secret was that Zuckerberg's friend had his friends list unlocked.
From the previous example, it follows that the security of our Facebook friends list depends on the settings of our friends' friends list and not entirely on us ourselves.
So, if you have a friend with a locked friends list and you want to know their friends, you should first locate a few of their friends through likes, comments, shares, or other means, and then follow the steps below:
1) Visit the profile of the user with the locked profile list and the profile of a friend of the previous user, who does not have a locked profile list, and take note of their usernames from the link in the browser address bar. If the link is in the form https://www.facebook.com/xXxXxX, then take xXxXxX, while in the case of https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=010101010101010, take 010101010101010.
2) In the link below, replace [Hidden Friends Profile] with the username of the user with the locked profile list and [Public Friends Profile] with the username of the user's friend with the unlocked profile list.
– https://www.facebook.com/[Hidden Friends Profile]/friends?and=[Public Friends Profile]
The result will give you the mutual friends between the two users you selected. If you are lucky, you might find out many of the user's friends, otherwise try the above process again with another friend.
