Before he had even finished school, he became the Prime Minister of India. Of course, this was not the result of the trust of his countrymen and an electoral process. It was simply that this 19-year-old became the leader of the country for half an hour thanks to Twitter.
Kaiser Ali says he doesn't understand how this all happened. He was just looking for a better name for his social media account. "I don't know how, but it crossed my mind to check the PMO (Prime Minister's Office) of India. And when I saw it was available, I just adopted it," the kid told the BBC.
Without realizing it, however, he had exploited a gap between the former and the new Prime Minister of India, who emerged from the recent elections. Simply put, when Manmohan Singh began preparing to leave his post, he changed the name of the Twitter account he had as Prime Minister. Thus, the regular name PMOIndia suddenly became available, which the 19-year-old exploited without knowing it.
Of course, the reign of India proved to be very short-lived for Qaiser Ali. As soon as Twitter realized what had happened, half an hour later, it restored the young man's account to its previous name, restoring order. "When I found out, my parents scolded me and told me to immediately apologize to the people of India," the 19-year-old said, and he immediately obeyed their order.
