The device is now available for sale in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.
Google today announced the launch of Chromecast in Europe, eight months after its debut in the United States. The device costs just £30 (€50) in the UK and €35 in all other countries where it is available. The gadget is much cheaper than similar devices already on the market, such as the Apple TV and the Roku Streaming Stick.
The device connects to the TV via HDMI and allows the streaming of multimedia content from almost any "smart" device or computer.
In the case of tablets and smartphones, the gadget works with applications that support this technology, such as Neflix and YouTube, as well as with the Google Play Movies & TV and Google Play Music services, while the list of additional applications is gradually being enriched.
For services that are natively supported, Chromecast can stream content directly from the cloud, without requiring a laptop or tablet for streaming.
