These are online tests with a high degree of difficulty, which if someone manages to solve, they go directly to Google's human resources department for evaluation and are one step closer to being hired by the company as a Google Software Engineer.
Google Quizzes are coming to Greece (for the first time), a test that allows developers to measure their skills and “opens” a door for them to be hired by the company. The “vehicle” is the international conference “Developer Days” that will take place at the I.Vellidis conference center of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) on February 20 and 21, organized by the Google Developers Community (GDG Thessaloniki) and TIF-HELEXPO.
Google Quizzes are online tests aimed at programmers (Software Engineers). They have a high degree of difficulty, as experts say, but if someone manages to solve them, they go directly to Google's human resources department for evaluation and are one step closer to being hired by the company as a Google Software Engineer.
"Google Quizzes is a test managed by the company itself. We, as the official Google developer community, promote this process in order to give developers from Greece the opportunity to participate and learn about quizzes," explained Panagiotis Tzinis, the founder of GDG Thessaloniki, speaking to APE-MPE.
Responsible for the process that will be launched on the first day of the conference (Thursday, February 20) will be Fillip Hráček (Developer Relations Program Manager) from Google Global.
“Google always needs developers, regardless of whether they are Greek or from another country. It simply wants the best!”, emphasizes Mr. Tzinis. Referring to the fact that these tests are being held for the first time in Greece and in Thessaloniki, he pointed out: “Google usually organizes them when it sees some 'mobility'. From the last Thessaloniki International Fair until today, it has been shown that there is a high interest from Greek developers in Google products and tools. Of course, the Google Developers Community in Thessaloniki contributed to this, with the support of TIF-HELEXPO”.
On the second day of the conference (February 21), participants will have the opportunity to subscribe to the newsletter that will be available at the Dart booth, in order to be informed about all the “Google Quizzes” taking place around the world. In the meantime, Mr. Hráček will also be the keynote speaker for the new programming language DART, which those participating in the corresponding laboratory (Codelab) will have the opportunity to listen to.
It is an open source “language” supported by Google and its full version was released just two months ago. According to GDG Thessaloniki developer Vangelis Tsatis, DART is a “powerful”, innovative and fast tool in the hands of professionals that is expected to significantly reduce – up to 40% – the investment in time and money.
Solidarity with the earthquake victims of Kefalonia
The Google Developers Community (GDG Thessaloniki) has decided to express its practical support to the residents of Kefalonia who have been affected by the recent earthquakes. Thus, in order to financially support those affected, it is offering T-shirts for sale - specially designed by GDG Thessaloniki for Kefalonia - either online or during the conference. Part of the sales proceeds will be given to cover the needs of earthquake victims. In fact, according to Mr. Tzinis, the Deputy Mayor of Kefalonia, Evangelos Kekatos, is expected to attend and greet the initiative at the opening of the conference.
As part of the "Developer Days", in a specially designed space, there will be a presentation of: DELL computers, Technopolis Thessaloniki, ELLAK (free software company) and the European Youth Capital 2014 - Thessaloniki.
The program of the "Developer Days" meeting includes, among others, lectures (by Dartisans -DART team, Googlers, Technologists, Supporters, Executives) and workshops, which will revolve around the axes of Web-App track, Partners-App track and Mobile-App track, Networking, Hack-athon and a "Flight Cocktail Party".
