EA Sports is preparing to bring college football back to gamers' screens in a big way, revealing new details about the upcoming EA Sports College Football 27. Through a new video, the company showcased significant changes to the equipment, customization options, and gameplay mechanics, attempting to offer the most authentic college football experience ever seen in the series.
The franchise's return is already one of EA Sports' biggest successes in recent years. College Football 25 marked the series' comeback in 2024, after more than a decade of absence, as development of the NCAA games was halted after NCAA Football 14 due to legal issues related to athlete rights. The reboot of the series, however, was a huge commercial success, returning the franchise to an annual release cycle.
More than 100 new equipment options
The biggest change in College Football 27 is the level of customization and equipment. EA Sports announced that more than 100 new items, allowing players to create even more realistic looks for their athletes and teams.

New additions include hanging mouth guards, reflective visors, different helmet and shoulder pad sizes, and new foot protection options. Coaches also gain new customization options, including branded sneakers, sweatshirts, hoodies, and pants.

Beyond the cosmetic changes, EA Sports is also promising significant changes to the core gameplay. College Football 27 will include 22 new defensive playbooks, upgraded duels between wide receivers and defensive backs, as well as improved artificial intelligence mechanisms that will affect player behavior on the field.
