Recent research has shown that one of the factors that contributes to excessive food consumption and, by extension, obesity is stress. In other words, when we are in a state of intense stress, we tend to consume large amounts of food even when we are not hungry…
In order to eliminate this bad habit, engineers and designers at Microsoft Research have created a revolutionary new bra that monitors the mental state of the woman who wears it and helps her stop eating due to stress.
The bra was first unveiled at the Society for Affective Computing conference, where it was tested by a group of volunteers. It has sensors that monitor heart rate, breathing, skin conductance, and movement, parameters that together form the wearer's psychological state. From there, the smart bra informs the woman that she is stressed and that it would be a good idea to stop eating.
The only drawback of the new technology is that the battery only lasts four hours, which means that new ways of monitoring all of the aforementioned parameters with less energy requirements must be sought.
