Microsoft launched a bug bounty program for Windows 8.1 in June to encourage more security researchers to look for bugs in the new operating system .
Today, the company announced the expansion of the program, saying it is now accepting circumvention techniques submitted by responders and expert experts.
“The current news means that they will not accept only contributions from a few, but from thousands of individuals or organizations that detect attacks and bugs. Now, the detectors and explorers can present new techniques for $100.000” said the company.
So far, only one person has won $100.000 (€ 74.000) for Windows 8.1, but several others also meet the criteria for a second bounty program concerning the discovery of vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer 11.
