Apple once again blocks Epic Games from returning to iOS.

Epic has released a letter obtained by Apple, calling the gaming company "untrustworthy," as they claim Epic's past actions were not in compliance with the developer agreement.
As a result, Epic says its intentions to create a third-party app store on iOS have been put on hold due to Apple's suspension of account .

The letter also mentions a post by CEO Tim Sweeney publicly criticizing Apple's proposed Digital Markets Act (DMA) compliance plan. Specifically, it includes a thread by Sweeney, which post describes as "speaking out against Apple's unfair and illegal practices."
The announcement comes shortly after Epic announced that Apple had reinstated its developer account. The account was initially suspended in 2020 after Epic introduced a direct payment system to the iOS version of Fortnite. This led to a highly publicized legal dispute between the two companies.
Epic announced in January its plans to create an EU gaming store within iOS and bring back the iOS version of Fortnite. This came after Apple was required to open up its App Store under the EU’s Digital Markets Act. The Digital Markets Act (DMA) targets big tech companies like Apple and Microsoft, branding them “gatekeepers” for creating fair and competitive digital platforms.

“The DMA was designed to address the imbalance of power that Apple claims exists today: they claim they have absolute control to block competing stores and apps,” Epic said in a blog post. “We will continue to fight to bring real competition and choice to iOS devices across Europe and globally.”
