Meta is asking Apple to allow playback of iPhone on the Quest headset.

Meta is asking Apple to allow the Quest to act as an AirPlay receiver.
Mark Rabkin, Meta's vice president of VR, says in a post on X that he would "love" to see this happen.

If this request is approved by Apple, iPhone and iPad owners will be able to stream media to the Quest, even across the entire screen like a TV with AirPlay support.
This may make up for the Quest's lack of built-in streaming apps compared to the Apple Vision Pro. YouTube, Netflix, Peacock, and Amazon Prime Video are available on the Quest. However:
- The Netflix hasn't been updated in years. It only streams in 480p quality, requires controllers, and doesn't support downloads or offline viewing.
- The Peacock is essentially a simple connection to the website, so it doesn't support downloads.
- The Amazon Prime Video is so neglected, it no longer connects at all.

By supporting AirPlay, Meta could offer users the ability to restore high-quality versions of apps to their iPhones, potentially adding to the durability of the Quest. Of course, Apple could reject the request, either due to competing interests or for technical reasons unrelated to the above.
