iPhone 16 Pro: The 10 new features it will bring

Although the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are about seven months away from launch , there are already plenty of rumors about the features the devices. Below, we present some of them as well as the changes expected so far.

These are some of the features rumored for the iPhone 16 Pro models:

• Larger screens: The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will be equipped with larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays, respectively, according to Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants.
• “Capture” button: There are rumors that Apple is planning a new “Capture button” with controls for recording video on all iPhone 16 models. It is expected to be placed below the power button.
• 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens: The new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature an upgraded 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens for higher-resolution photos with more detail when shooting in 0.5× mode, according to Jeff Pu , a technology analyst at Hong Kong-based investment firm Haitong International Securities
• Wi-Fi 7 support: The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will also support Wi-Fi 7, according to Pu. This will allow devices to send and receive data simultaneously on the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands, resulting in faster Wi-Fi speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connectivity.
• A18 Pro chip: Apple's next-generation A18 Pro processor is expected to be built on TSMC's second-generation 3nm process, known as N3E.

• Improved thermal design: Rumor has it that the iPhone 16 Pro models will feature a new thermal design for improved heat dissipation. Similar to recent Apple Watch models, the battery may have a metal case.
• 5G Advanced: The iPhone 16 Pro models will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 modem for faster and more efficient 5G connectivity, according to Pu. The modem supports the “5G Advanced” standard, which has been described as “the next phase of 5G” and an “evolution toward 6G.”
• Upgraded microphones for AI: According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 16 models will feature significantly upgraded microphones with a higher signal-to-noise ratio and improved water resistance. The upgraded microphones will allow the devices to hear your voice more clearly, which could boost the accuracy of the rumored Siri with genetic AI in iOS 18.
• 5× optical zoom: The iPhone 15 Pro Max's telephoto lens system with 5× optical zoom will be incorporated into the iPhone 16 Pro, according to Kuo.
• More cores for the Neural Engine: Some of iOS 18's rumored genetic AI features will be exclusive to the iPhone 16 models, in part because the devices may feature an upgraded Neural Engine with "significantly" more cores.
