The expert – who has previously warned people about the dark web and how difficult it is to access – offered his advice while appearing as a guest on the Shawn Ryan Show last year.
Criminals n't just exist in the physical world, many of them are online and carry out their activities through hacking or the dark web.
Ryan Montgomery , an “ethical hacker” and professional cybersecurity expert , has highlighted five tips to prevent these criminals from hacking our devices .
Known for identifying and exposing online criminals, Montgomery appeared on the show to educate people about online.
Use a password manager
It goes without saying, but a password manager helps you record all the passwords for your various accounts.
Strong, unique passwords are always recommended, and an administrator will help you record them in a secure, locked space.
Installing an antivirus
Montgomery argues that this is essential or that you should “consult a cybersecurity-specialized IT company or a cybersecurity firm.”
An antivirus program protects computer by detecting and removing viruses and other types of malware that can harm your device.

Use a wallet with RFID anti-theft protection
RFID stands for radio frequency identification and works by transmitting radio waves to identify and track tagged objects.
Cybercriminals may use an RFID reader to scan your credit card, while an RFID wallet blocks these waves, protecting your information.
Montgomery further explains: “If you want to be even more secure, use a key FOB that has an RFID shield on it. That way, your key FOB doesn’t work outside of that shield and can’t be copied.”

Be careful with the websites you visit
As the ethical hacker simply puts it: “If your browser says the website looks insecure, then it probably is.”
But if it says otherwise, you need to make sure it's legal.
Use your logic
A bit obvious, but sometimes we can forget. Montgomery states: “If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.”
If you are unsure about anything, be sure to contact an IT or cybersecurity company for advice.
