Many iPhone users may not know this, but the truth is that it is possible to delete multiple contacts at once in iOS. The thing is, Apple has implemented this feature differently than the way similar mass deletions are done in Messages and Mail. If you don't know how to mass delete contacts on iPhone, check out the guide below.

The process is surprisingly simple. Until recently, deleting multiple contacts at once could only be done by logging into iCloud through a browser, so keep this tip in mind!

- Open the Contacts on your iPhone, or open the Phone and then tap Contacts.
- Find the contacts (or better yet a group of contacts that are together) that you want to delete.
- Using two fingers, press and hold a contact in the list, then drag your fingers up or down to highlight the “neighboring” contacts you want to delete.
- Release your fingers to complete your selection. If you want to add another contact or contacts to the selection, repeat step 3. Otherwise, tap and hold any highlighted contact, then tap Delete [X] Contacts in the drop-down menu.
- Confirm that you want to delete the specific contacts by tapping Delete Contacts in the message that appears.

If the above process doesn't work for you and you want more options on how to delete contacts on your iPhone (e.g. if the contacts aren't next to each other), then you can use iCloud.
It's a little more complicated, but you have more options.
If you use iCloud, your contacts are stored and backed up in the cloud so you can use them across all your Apple devices.
Thanks to iCloud, changes made to contact information are automatically pushed across all your devices. For example, when you change an email in the Contacts app on your iPhone, it also appears on another Apple (e.g. Macbook).
Using the web version of iCloud on Mac your, you can bulk delete the contacts you want (since they are synced across all devices, they will also be deleted from your iPhone).
- Visit iCloud.com on a computer (not a mobile device) and sign in using your Apple ID and password.
- On the main page, select Contacts.
- Highlight the contacts you want to delete by holding down the Control key on Mac .
- Scroll down and select more contacts to delete.
- Click the Settings at the bottom left of the screen.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm your selection by selecting Delete.
