The European Commission has officially restricted the use of TikTok on all staff devices, as confirmed by multiple sources.

The European Union's highest administrative body is the latest organization to require employees not to use TikTok, because it is concerned that it could potentially be used to spy on and monitor its users.
TikTok, owned by Chinese company Bytedance, has consistently denied allegations that its app allows for tracking, insisting that it collects data similar to other apps and uses it solely for advertising purposes.

Nevertheless, officials in the US and Europe continued to warn that it could pose a significant risk.
The European Commission has now instructed its staff to delete the TikTok app from all official devices, including personal ones that have installed work-related apps.
“To protect the Commission’s data and increase its cybersecurity, the EC Corporate Management Board has decided to block the TikTok application on corporate devices and personal devices registered with the Commission’s mobile service,” said a widely reported email sent to staff.
The European Commission is a powerful, independent institution that helps set policies for the 27 countries of the European Union. It is responsible for proposing laws and regulations, managing the EU's finances, and overseeing justice and human rights within the EU.

Similar bans are already in place in some US government agencies. The federal government and most states have already banned employees from having the TikTok app on official devices.
