HackerOne's 2022 Hacker-Powered Security Report claims that in 2022, ethical hackers identified more than 65,000 software flaws – an impressive 21% increase from the previous year.

The report revealed that digital transformation initiatives led to a significant increase in misconfigurations by 150% and in improper authorization by 45%.

Research has revealed that ethical hacker communities have the power to identify vulnerabilities on a larger scale, making it clear that conventional manual vulnerability management measures are not enough for security teams.

Scaling vulnerability management with ethical hackers

The survey reports that more and more organizations are feeling the pressure of managing an ever-increasing number of exploits, with 66% of security leaders reporting a backlog of over 100,000 vulnerabilities and 54% saying they are able to patch less than 50% of the vulnerabilities in their backlog.

The massive number of vulnerabilities has created the need for an easier and more effective way to manage them.
