Microsoft is now giving its users the ability to receive notifications whenever new security updates are released, through a new RSS feed for the Security Update Guide.

When Microsoft fixes a vulnerability in one of its products, it discloses details in the Security Update Guide.
Typically, the company unveils new fixes twice a month, with the bulk of them being Patch Tuesday updates and vulnerability fixes in Microsoft Edge.
However, if a new vulnerability is publicly disclosed before Microsoft can fix it and believes it is important for customers to know about it, it will add new entries to the SUG when it publishes emergency mitigation advice
For example, last month, Microsoft added two new Microsoft Exchange zero-day vulnerabilities tracked as CVE-2022-41040 and CVE-2022-41082 to the SUG.
Although these bugs have not yet received security updates, Microsoft has released mitigations that can help protect servers exposed to the Internet, indicating the need for users to stay aware of new security issues.

In contrast, email notifications for additions to the Security Update Guide require the user to create a Microsoft account to receive them and are not sent immediately.
"Regarding the RSS feed, we have received feedback from some of our customers that such an RSS feed to the Security Update Guide (SUG) would be particularly welcome," Microsoft said in its announcement.
«Some customers have even requested that it be the default form of communication. We've heard your feedback, and you can now receive SUG updates by pasting the RSS feed URL into any RSS reader.»
The URL for the new RSS feed is now at https://api.msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide/rss and is also shared across the SUG using an RSS icon.
To use the new RSS feed feature, you need to install an RSS feed reader, whether it's a desktop app , mobile app, or browser extension

Once you subscribe to the feed, you will automatically receive notifications when Microsoft adds a new CVE to the security update guide, helping you stay informed about the latest security risks.
