If you're one of those people who's been eagerly awaiting Denis Villeneuve's highly anticipated Dune, you'll probably have to wait a little longer than you thought.

The film, originally scheduled for release on December 18, 2020, has been pushed back to October 1, 2021. And now it appears that Dune has been pushed back another three weeks to October 22, 2021, Variety. Warner Bros. has also pushed back several other films, moving Cry Macho to September 17 and The Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark to October 1.
The film is an adaptation of Frank Herbert's classic science fiction novel and features an all-star cast including Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgård, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Rebecca Ferguson, and Javier Bardem.

Dune will be the first of two films and will cover the first half of the book, with a second film planned for an undisclosed date, which will be based on the second half of the book. An HBO Max prequel has also been announced.
Warner Bros. announced last year that its entire 2021 film lineup, including Dune, would be released simultaneously on HBO Max.

This move, however, did not sit well with Dune director Denis Villeneuve, who opposed the decision in a petition. AT&T announced in May that it would break up WarnerMedia and merge it with Discovery.
