MIUI 12 Tests “Back Tap” Feature for iOS 14

Apple 's iOS 14 is currently in beta testing. Among its many features, iOS 14 has something called " Back Tap ," also known as the double-tap feature.

Back Tap

The “Back Tap” feature allows the user to open apps or perform system actions, such as opening the camera or taking a screenshot, by double or triple tapping the back of the phone.

Xiaomi is also planning to implement the back tap feature on devices , according to code spotted by XDA member Kacskrz in the latest beta versions of MIUI 12. The feature is in development, but it appears to be similar to iOS 14's "back tap" feature.

Currently, the list of shortcuts includes taking a screenshot, activating the flashlight, opening the control center, opening the notification shade, and launching the camera. Of course, it is very possible that Xiaomi will add more shortcuts, since the feature is still in beta.

While there aren't many details about the feature, users can still get it on their devices now.

How to get iOS 14 Back Tap on any Android device?

A developer named Kieron Quinn managed to port the Back Tap feature through his own app, called “Tap, Tap.”

His app, which is still in beta, brings the feature to all Android devices running Android 7.0 or later. It uses built-in accelerometer and gyroscope sensors and machine learning to detect a double tap on the back of the device.

  • First, download and install the “Tap, Tap” app from here.
  • Go to accessibility settings, tap on more download services and switch the accessibility service to “Tap, Tap”.
  • In the app, go to the “Actions” section to choose the action for the double tap.
  • Go to “Gates” to block gestures in situations like when you’re making a call or when the screen is off.

Quinn plans to add more features, such as allowing users to set the sensitivity of the double-tap function. Triple-tap is not yet available in his app.
