KaOS 2020.05 Linux: Released with changes and improvements

KaOS is a Linux- based operating system , which was built with the aim of offering users many and “heavy” -for the system- applications, using as few repositories as possible. Because it is not widely known, KaOS usually comes with a single desktop environment (KDE), and is only aimed at systems with x86_64 architecture.

Version 2020.05 has also been released. Compared to version 2020.02, 2020.05 contains many more improvements and features, as well as new packages and applications. Below, we list the most important changes that have been made in the latest version:

KaOS installer:

The installer now includes the 'No Office Suite' and 'Minimal install' options. Users can use these options to avoid installing certain applications so that the operating system runs better on computers .

In addition to the above pre-installed applications, users can also select only the applications they need from the 6 groups of Croesco wizard.

Appearance and themes:

completely redesigned bootloader . Now, the black background has been replaced by white, and the menu's appearance has been changed to match the new Midna theme.

KDE applications:

The new KaOS 2020.05 Linux, contains all the applications from the new KDE 20.04 bundle, such as Okular, Elisa and the Kdenlive editor. In addition, the pre-installed applications of the operating system have been updated to the latest versions. For example, the IsoWriter application now allows you to verify the integrity of the files of an ISO file.

Installation:

KaOS is a Rolling Release. In other words, all you need to do to update the system to the latest version is to update your system packages. The process is simple, as all you need to do is open a terminal and type:

Sudo pacman -Syu

Otherwise, if you don't have KaOS installed, you can download the installation file and install the operating system using a bootable USB.
