Mozilla has created a new email relay service called “Firefox Private Relay.” The purpose of this service is for users to provide “email aliases” whenever a company or service asks them to provide address . This way, they will be able to avoid giving out their real email address and therefore protect identity and personal information. This new service is currently in an experimental stage and is only available as a browser for Firefox. In addition, users will have to request an invitation on the website to receive it.
The internal functions included in this new Mozilla Firefox service do similar things to “Sign in to Apple”, whenever they ask users for their email ID. However, it should be clarified that this is not a login service. Specifically, as Mozilla states on its official page , whenever a form asks users to enter their email address, instead of giving their real address, now, in the new Mozilla Firefox service, they will be able to click on the relay button to provide email aliases, thus keeping their real email address private. The company will then forward emails to users from the email alias they have provided, to their real inboxes. Furthermore, the service will create a different and unique alias for users each time they register on a new website. The company also notes that users will have the ability to delete or disable aliases at any time, which is especially useful if they're visiting a site just to try out the service, check out its content, or sign up for a newsletter. Finally, according to ZDNet, Mozilla will officially launch this service sometime in 2020.
