As Google yesterday, there are now more than 100 million active Android Go devices in the world. This is a particularly significant development, considering that the first Android Go device went on sale less than 3 years ago. Android Go phones may not be as attractive as other mid-range and high-end devices, but they are still selling very well.
Android Go was created as an alternative interface that manufacturers can use on low-end devices, since it does not require as many resources as a standard version of Android. Google has also introduced various variants for its Android applications, with an emphasis on Android Go. There is YouTube Go, Google Go, Gallery Go and many more. Apart from Google, however, other companies have followed suit and have also created Lite variants to help Android Go users, Facebook has created Messenger Lite and Instagram Lite. And today, the company has unveiled the new version of the Google Camera app for Android Go devices.
Google's excellent camera app now has a new variant, specially designed for Android Go devices. The new version of the Google Camera Go app is less complicated and much faster than many other apps available for regular Android smartphones. Gcam Go also has the usual set of Google algorithms and features for improving image quality. The app includes features like Portrait and Night mode. This way, mid-range smartphones can also take nice photos.
The new Camera Go app will initially be available on the Nokia 1.3. The smartphone was launched yesterday and also ships with Android 10 Go Edition. According to the company, more Android Go devices will soon receive support for the new app.
